USA - George

George is disabled and relies on Supplemental Security Income to pay for living expenses because he is unable to work. Because George relies on SSI benefits, he can never own more than $2,000 at once or his benefits might be taken away. He can't put that money into savings. Everything he owns counts up to that maximum— even a kind friend donating money is a risk to his SSI.
